100% crash record

Me and Steve headed out on St. Stephen’s Day with our mountain bikes. We headed for Breahig and found the roads unpassable.

St Stephen's Day 2009

St Stephen's Day Ice

Steve fell off not far from where the picture was taken above near Breahig, his back wheel giving way to the ice.

We didn’t know whether to laugh or cry but decided to head back towards Currow. Some very wise person decided to head up the Metal Bridge and back to Currow by the top road where I fell off, this time with my front wheel sliding and bring me down to the ground spread out like a starfish. Next time a warning from the good people at Met Eireann will be adhered to!

Training Spins Winter 2009

The evening winter spins are up and running. The meeting point is McElligott’s on the Tralee Road Castleisland every wednesday leaving from 7:00pm sharp. As these spins are in the dark, it is advised to have the proper lighting and that a high vis is mandatory (and wet gear very much advised).

The main goal is to keep some sort of fitness level up over the coming months and if the Malin-mizen is a runner to be in somewhat decent bike fitness in january.Miles on the bike and not speed should be our priority and anybody else who would like to join with the group are more than welcome. The route will be McElligots to Tralee with variations of Tralee-ballycarty  or Castleisland-ballycarty added to gain extra miles.

Training Spin Sat 6th June

We are planning a long spin on Saturday. It would be great to have a group. Leaving Currow at 12.30. The route is up Gleanninte (Day care centre cycle hill) onto the 6 crosses, Abbeydorney, Ardfert and Fenit. It is over 60 miles but great prep for the Ring of Kerry. It will be a long steady spin with the emphasis on getting the miles and hills in.
All the best
John Breen

Spin on Tue 30th Dec

A reminder that there will be a cycle tomorrow (Tuesday 30th) from 11am leaving Currow Post Office.

Also please note that there is a leisure cycle in Blarney on Sunday the 4th of January. It is 70 Km and it would be good to have representation of the Currowcc club at it. For any more information please do not hesitate to contact me at currowcc@gmail.com.

Spin on Tuesday 22nd December

Please note that the weekly spin will be on this Tuesday 22 as opposed to this Wednesday for this week only. Leaving McElligotts Castleisland at 7:30pm sharp. More details to follow on spins over the Christmas. On behalf of Currow CC I would like to wish you and yours a happy christmas and a prosperous new year.
