Weekly Update

Firstly well done to our club team of Darragh Looney, Kevin Griffin and Tom Barrett in the team time trial last Thursday night in the county league. Fourth on the night with 29.45 which was excellent with the large turnout and some composite teams.

The county league reverts back to a road race this week in Kilcummin (Killarney CC).

The club has a large amount of members tackling the Ring of Kerry next Saturday and all the best is wished to them and all other participants. Remember its not a race and get back safe and sound to Killarney and be proud of the achievement of cycling the long, beautiful route and remember to enjoy the day out.

Club spins continue on Tuesdays, Thursdays  (both 7pm) and Sundays 10am from Currow Post Office.

There is a late addition to the racing calendar of an event in Millstreet next Sunday 7th July. This is promoted by O Leary Stone Kanturk CC.

Finally – as event promoters we understand the pressures of putting on events and realise things can go wrong which we always try and avoid but never under estimate the power of human error – what am i on about – the biggest race in the world, the Tour de France. Watch this video !!

Sliabh Luachra TT

Moynihan Storms to victory in Sliabh Luachra TT
Cathal Moynihan (Tralee Manor BC) was the strongest and fastest on the night in the annual Sliabh Luachra TT promoted by Cuirrow CC in Castleisland tonight. He won by a narrow 8 seconds to the newly crowned Munster TT champion Simon Ryan (DMG Visit Nenagh) with his team mate Denis Dunworth filling the podium only 12 seconds back.
A large crowd turned out in a high caliber field for the 20km event which saw Eddie Dunbar (O Leary Stone Kanturk) win the Junior prize and team mate Dean Bradley Young taking the under 16 award.
William Whelan Kilmallock CC led the A3 category home with Blarneys Stephen McCarthy winning the A4 prize.
Best of the Vets was Andre Engeman, St Tiernans with Tom Barrett, Sean Barrett and last but not least Suzanne O Sullivan winning their three respective catagories for the promoting Currow Cycling Club of Over 50, Under 12 and Ladies.
Overall it was a very popular event with no talk of any EGM but only the race of truth in an event that set out with 10km into a headwind first followed by a fast test of speed to the finish line.

Currow Cycling Club are pleased to announce the

Currow Cycling Club Leisure Tour

On the 16th of June

Sign-on will commence at 9:00 in the Currow Community Centre.

Fee is €15 and non-members of Cycling Ireland will need a one day licence at a cost of €5.

Start time is 10:00.

This is a leisure tour and we hope to complete the 60 mile route in approximately 4 hours.

To accommodate the huge disparity in cycling ability, we will be leading a group at 9:30 to allow riders who feel that 4 hours is restrictive the opportunity to complete the tour at their leisure and ensure that this event is enjoyed by all.

The route will start in Currow and take in Castleisland on its way to Tralee. Then out of Tralee on the Castlemaine road and the first food stop will be at the Castlemaine Creamery. The group will split here and those on the 60K route will take the road to Farranfore and then Currow. The 100K route will head to Milltown and onto Killorglin. Next to Killarney and a food stop outside the town, before heading into Farranfore and then to Currow. Food and refreshments will be available at Currow Community Centre.
