It is the same circuit as last year with the same finish line being used which is 800m before the village

We are also asking for the cycling public’s help in keeping the event safe. You can help by not parking on the road near either finish line on the day and also respect the underage races by not warming up on their circuit – there is plenty of room to warm up elsewhere.

So finally we are looking forward to seeing you for what we hope will be another great day of cycling in Currow – your continued support of the event is very much appreciated

Below are some shots relating to the race and its winners over the years

Weekly Update Week 12

The season is in full swing now and we have plenty going on in the club

The first item is a sincere thank you and well done to all who helped in stewarding the Kerry Group RAS Mumhan in a safe passage from Garveys to Ballyfinnane. This was down to  the usual reliable marshalling and every praise was given to the club by the  race organisation.

Damien Shaw from Aqua Blue had a very exciting win in the event.

After the Stage Racing last weekend the action returns to the one day races with the Silver Pail GP in Fermoy. Best of luck to our members and all taking part especially Sean Barrett on his first of what will hopefully be many days out racing. Details next week.

The Tralee CC Club league has kicked off – details on their website.

Our training times now are as follows;

Tuesday 7pm sharp – TTT training similar to the Saturdays earlier in the year from the Tralee Road Roundabout. This must start on time due to the light and it is back to Ballycarthy and back as fast as possible working as a team for as long as possible to improve the time. Punctures, etc will not be stopped for unless it is a serious incident.

Wednesday 7pm – Ballycarthy and back from McElligotts at a leisure pace followed by laps of the town circuit again at a leisure pace. Lights still required.

Sunday 10am – Normal spin with 2/3 groups depending on whether there is a race on somewhere or not

These are the spins for the foreseeable future, just be aware of what each session is about but that doesn’t mean you should not have a go on a Tuesday.

On the Drumm Cup the format was agreed and Eamonn Collier is in charge of Safety for the event but remember safety is everyones responsibility but Eamonn will make a call on anything you are unsure of. Many thanks to Eamonn for stepping up to the plate for the club. It was also agreed to move the underage finish as well as have the lead cars staggered 40 metres apart at the start to keep the traffic moving. We also agreed to lok at PA systems that might suit us.

Image

Shane O Neill has also stepped up to give us our training / social weekend away in South Kerry staying down there on the 18th of May. Its a cycle down there on Sat returning Sunday. Shane needs to know who is interested by April 11th so he can make a booking on behalf of the club. Shane can be contacted on 087 9549730.

Image

The Community College team who have been also out with us are doing well in their preparation for their upcoming tour. They are a very welcome asset for our club and its great to see them with us. They are also showing great ability and im sure they will achieve their goal and get the bug to keep up cycling. As always we welcome and seek new members so bring along anyone you might think is interested.

Those of you watching Eurosport may have seen former Drumm Cup Winner Sam Bennett moving up through the ranks so continued success to the An Post Carrrick on Suir man.

Finally, there are many events coming up that would suit club members. Details are on the Sticky Bottle website for both Leisure and Racing events and the county league is starting in May.
