Weekly Update Week 11

Following 2 great club spins in the last week its much the same this week plus plenty more going on. Wednesday night 7pm at McElligotts, Tralee Road Castleisland and Sunday morning (Easter Sunday) at 10am in Currow. It was great to see new members out with us this week so encourage any others to come along. Even though the time will have changed on the following Wednesday it is still McElligotts at 7pm for the club spin.

On Good Friday Approx 5pm we are stewarding the first stage of the Kerry Group RAS Mumhan from Garveys to Jenkinsons Cross Currans. We have appointed people on the road but if you are around please give them a hand.

On Saturday the Etape RAS Mumhan takes place starting in Kenmare and covering the Beara Peninsula. This is an excellent event with 2 distances available. Details on RAS Mumhan website.

The club meeting will take place Tuesday night the 2nd of April in Currow at the later time of 9pm at the request of some members.

Already on the agenda is the Drumm Cup and the Club training until the County League kicks off (both racing and leisure spins). Other items can be sent to the Club Secretary or PRO 087 7849879.

Finally for TV Cycling Fans the Tour of Flanders takes place Sunday live on Eurosport and it is also well worth while getting out to see the International Kerry Group RAS Mumhan which has exciting action in the hills on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a spectator friendly stage rounding things off Easter Monday with a circuit that includes 10 climbs of the Killorglin hill.

Kerry Group RAS Mumhan starting Good Friday

The 4 day Kerry Group RAS Mumhan starts on Good Friday where our help has been requested to steward from Garveys to Jekinsons Cross in Currans.

I have a few already volunteered but could do with a few more so will you please get in touch 087 7849879.

This year there will be 210 riders taking to the start line in this international event. You will be required from 4.45pm till 5.45pm  when the broom wagon should be gone through.

Weekly Update Week 10

Usual Spin on Sunday at 10 am from Currow. No race in Munster so we may have 3 groups on the road again.

Wednesday night Spin again next week at 7pm from McElligotts, Tralee Road, Castleisland.

The next club meeting is provisionally booked for 8pm on Tues April 2nd after Easter. This may change if some of the officers are unavailable. This is a critical meeting to finalise Drumm Cup plans and plan the training spins for summer time amongst other matters.

There is a draft on the site of the programme – please read it before it goes out to all other clubs.

Drumm Cup Draft 1

Can all our members please have a read of this and let me know by email johnbreen@p-h-d.info or by calling 0877849879 if we are missing anything or if we should maybe include anything else

We need to do a basic flyer maybe on the last stage or RAS Mumhan where there will be clubs from all over Ireland present and we need one or two to hand them out at the finish area.

It is the same circuit as last year with the same finish line being used which is 800m before the village

We are also asking for the cycling public’s help in keeping the event safe. You can help by not parking on the road near either finish line on the day and also respect the underage races by not warming up on their circuit – there is plenty of room to warm up elsewhere.

So finally we are looking forward to seeing you for what we hope will be another great day of cycling in Currow – your continued support of the event is very much appreciated
