Kerry Cycling Clubs Coaching Day

Hello All

Below are the details of the coaching day run by Cycling Ireland through Paddy Doran. Please circulate to all members and can each club secretary please get back to me with a number of members that are interested by Tuesday.

If we get a good response then other events will happen at different locations throughout the county as Cycling Ireland will see we are keen to develop the sport down here so can you please give this priority over the next few days – i know the timing is short but there were factors that caused this.

Another problem is the “network” we have so i am conscious that i may not have everyones email address so can you please pass this to whoever you think may be interested.

Venue An Riocht, Castleisland, Co Kerry
(It is at the top of the town, through the traffic lights and on the right just before the rugby club)

Sign on 9.45 – 10.15 Am
10.15 Introduction and explanation of session
10.30 Cycle to small local circuit

Training methods

Strength – Speed – Endurance – Gearing cadence – Control of Effort
Demonstration and sampling of each method in practical session

12.30 finish practical

Break/change

1.30 Coaching Presentation to include
Principles of training
Periodisation of training yearly –monthly – weekly training plans
Questions and answers
3.30 finish

NB Places are limited so please book through your club secretary or by calling John Breen on 087 7849879 before Tuesday 6th November as if not full other clubs maybe offered the places.

Club Secretaries also to confirm numbers by Tuesday at the latest.

This is of relevance to whoever maybe thinking of racing next year and especially to younger cyclists as well as people who wish to improve their cycling in general. Please bring your 2012 licence to the sign on if you have one.
