A bit off the topic of cycling, but there is a charity walk on the Dingle Way on Saturday 30th May for the Stuart Mangan appeal. It looks to be well supported and cater for all abilities.

West Cork 200 KM Cycle

Hi All,

There is a 200KM event in west cork on 21st of June. It might seem like a bit of a reach for some but promises to be a great opportunity to get legs into the miles and miles into the legs a week before the ring. It’s also a great opportunity to see the beautiful South West of Cork. For those who would like to travel but don’t feel up to 200K i’m sure there are other alternatives to make the route shorter but please note that any such routes will not be supported by the organisers. Anyone interested in going or wanting more info please let me know.

May Trip – Details Update

Due to the forth coming marriage of Gerry’s beloved daughter Maire to Jackie O’ Mahony on the 16th of May, the South Kerry Weekend has been re-arranged to Friday 22nd, Sat 23rd and Sun 24th to allow for greater attendance. The bridesmaids on this happy occasion are Maire’s sisters, Beatrice and Siobhan and the flower girl is Seodhla Muireann. Maire’s dress was designed by La Sposa, and supplied by Amber Angels in Charleville. The wedding cake was made by her aunt Joan Thompson. The happy couple will reside in Mountain View, Kilcummin. We wish them every happiness for the future.
Leaving Currow P.O at 11.00pm sharp on Friday and cycling to Portmagee where nosebags and porter will be freely available in the Moorings. Saturday to be spent in the saddle, including a circuit of Valentia Island, before making it back for the Rugby. Fine dining and wines in the Restaurant should round off the day. Sunday sees a leisurely return home. B&B rate will be negotiated on Monday next, three to a room. Off street parking available for bikes!
Please confirm by text if you are intending to join the club for this important training event (140 miles approx) and set yourself up for the Ring.

Pre-registration is advised and you can do so at the event website. There has been a lot of publicity regarding this event and it promises to be a great day. A good representation from Currow CC would be a great way od advertising for our own events later on in the year. If there are any questions regarding this please feel to email me at currowcc@gmail.com. I look forward to seeing you there!

Spring Training Details & May Trip

Hi All,

As the weather is being good to us (mostly) and as the evenings get longer training has now commenced on week evenings. Training times are Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 pm sharp leaving Currow Post Office. A variety of routes are used in these spins and all abilities are catered for. As the season is now progressing training is being gradually increased and training will go ahead regardless of weather conditions (within reason).

Also for our May trip away (15th, 16th and 17th) we would like to invite suggestions as to destinations. There will be a support van for the entire weekend courtesy of Mike Fleming. If anyone has suggestions regarding a suitable destination, accommodation or route possibilities please contact Eamon on 087 283 7115. Previous destinations have included Portmagee, Kenmare and Dingle to name but a few.

Thanks and hope to see you on the road!!
